Prince William Will Participate in UN Climate Conference in Brazil
Prince William is scheduled to attend the United Nations climate conference in Brazil in the coming weeks, according to palace sources.
Prince William and King Charles made a joint appearance on Thursday night at a gathering ahead of the climate summit, which is planned for in the northern Brazilian city of Belém.
The King and Prince were in attendance at the Natural History Museum reception, marking an unusual joint appearance at a pre-COP30 gathering co-hosted by the British authorities.
Climate Leadership Dedication
King Charles has been a longstanding advocate of biodiversity preservation - and Prince William has assumed the responsibility, with his own Earthshot awards, which will be held in Brazil before the UN meeting.
Official representatives have portrayed William's involvement at the next COP as taking on an important role in "climate diplomacy".
Previous Activities
The King and Prince of Wales, making a joint entrance in the official car, were welcomed participants featuring conservation experts, scientists, climate change campaigners, diplomats and politicians.
This engagement included speaking alongside French leader Macron of the French Republic and other international figures at the Ocean Finance Summit in the Principality of Monaco earlier this year.
Earthshot Awards Link
The COP30 summit will align with the William's personal climate innovation prizes, which will wrap up in the Brazilian city the previous day he attends the climate conference on the sixth of November.
Last week the royal figure described the award contenders as "heroes of our time".
Monarch's Environmental Record
King Charles has been a prominent presence at previous climate summits, giving the opening address in Dubai for the 28th Conference of Parties, including the observation: "Our responsibility is to protect the world we inhabit".
"For decades I've committed a large proportion of my life trying to alert people to the critical dangers confronting humanity over global warming, climate change and species extinction," the monarch informed attendees.
