BF6 Players Agree: Tasks Are Overly Demanding

The release of the eagerly awaited Battlefield 6 received widespread acclaim, particularly for its flagship multiplayer mode. Exclusively on Steam, simultaneous player numbers surged to nearly 750,000. Nevertheless, despite its popularity, an increasing amount of players are protesting against a portion of the release's toughest challenges, which are necessary to unlock specific weapons.

Players have started resorting to tailored sessions created through the Portal feature to achieve these objectives, underscoring just how demanding these missions have become.

Understanding Battlefield 6 Assignments

Assignments are Battlefield 6's permanent multiplayer tasks, as opposed to the frequently updated daily and weekly challenges. There are four categories of assignments, but although many simply offer skins and a few gadgets, finishing the gun missions is the sole method of obtaining a dozen out of forty-one key firearms present in the game.

Some of these restricted firearms could shortly make their appearance on lists of the top weapons in Battlefield 6.

Player Outcry on Reddit

Within Reddit, players are understandably sharing their frustrations about how challenging and repetitive a number of these challenges are. A particular gamer pointed out one of the most outrageous examples, mandatory for acquiring the KTS100 MK8 LMG:

  • Neutralize 300 foes with LMGs
  • Deal 10,000 close-range damage with LMGs

"This task is so terrible and completely out of mind, I want to gouge my eyes out," is a comment that illustrates just how annoyingly hard these tasks are.

The suppression feature in the game is weaker than it's ever been in the series, so it has significantly fewer benefits in combat as it did in previous games. It only registers as suppression if you miss multiple shots in a row.

Meanwhile, using an LMG from the hip is highly imprecise and is effective only at very short distances, which is not usually a position you aim to be. That player also noted the contradiction in the SMG challenge, to unlock the SCW-10, which requires kills while aiming down the sights, when that mission would be much better suited to hipfire kills, and vice versa.

Another Ridiculously Tough Challenge

A different forum member brought attention to a further incredibly demanding challenge, now in the long-range weapon type to obtain the PSR:

  • Achieve 150 headshot eliminations beyond 200 meters with marksman guns

This is tough enough by itself, but there's another important point to consider: most Battlefield 6 maps do not even allow combat at those extended distances.

There's a healthy variety of map sizes, but given there are merely nine battlegrounds in the game right now, it implies you must stick to playing one of the larger locales, a particular valley environment, and perhaps an additional option if you're lucky if you want to snipe from over 200m away.

The Workaround

There is a workaround though: Battlefield Portal. This portal feature is a tool that allows you to design tailored experiences on the battleground of your choice, featuring computer-controlled players. This implies you can cheese the system… but it isn't truly in line with the developer's vision.

But when completing the missions in a standard match seems counterproductive, since you must engage in such an unconventional way that offers no advantage to anyone, who can blame someone for completing them in a private match so squad members are not disadvantaged?

Future Adjustments

It won't come as a surprise if some of these assignments are made easier in the near future, because if they're not, a portion of the user base simply are unlikely to obtain the restricted guns.

For now, the player base continues to share their thoughts on these demanding multiplayer missions, anticipating a more balanced overall gameplay in future updates.
